A new affordable housing development is being proposed on the Charleston peninsula.

A 55-unit project called Lowline Apartments is in the works for an undeveloped lot owned by the city of Charleston at 0 F St. The property is behind the 40-unit affordable housing development at 670 King St. that’s owned by Charleston Housing Authority.

The planned Lowcountry Lowline linear park runs next to the site.

Changing hands

Sixty-four collectively owned condominiums in an 84-unit complex near Charleston’s medical district recently sold for $14 million.

The units in 40 Bee Street Flats at 40 Bee St. changed hands Nov. 1, according to the commercial real estate firm Avison Young, which handled the sale for the seller, Cora LLC of Burlington, N.C.

Engineering Partners LLC bought the nearly 60,000-square-foot space for just under $219,000 per unit.

The other 20 units in the building are individually owned, according to the real estate firm.

The site’s proximity to MUSC made the property “a unique acquisition” because of “continuous demand” for housing in that area, Avison Young said in a statement.
